What is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?
I am a web developer in the Service Center of Excellence and support all the websites for Finance and Operations and Institutional Integrity and Risk Management. I help to ensure that all web-related content is up-to-date and accessibility-friendly.

What did you do before you came to the SCE?
Before coming to the SCE, I worked as a web developer and multimedia specialist at my alma mater, NC State. I developed and managed the team’s websites and did graphic design and programming for them. I also created an animation called Monica! for the NC Empowering Youth & Families Program, a family empowerment program that challenges each unit member to learn and utilize new tools for navigating common concerns, experiences and situations.

What is your favorite part of working at the SCE?
My favorite part of working at the SCE is problem-solving and helping people. In this role, I deal with challenges and find ways to overcome those challenges. I love figuring out a complex idea and breaking it down for the user. The accessibility part is another one of my favorite aspects of my position. The people viewing our websites come from all backgrounds, so I have to make sure all our content, graphics and files are accessible to everyone.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, mainly on weekends, I love playing video games, specifically city management or simulation games. I also love being outside, so hiking and biking are my favorite activities. I enjoy being in nature and appreciating its scenery. Hanging with friends is another favorite pastime.

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you or another fun item you’d like to share?
I love to laugh, so I enjoy comedies, but I also enjoy making other people laugh. I love to enjoy life, and that comes with finding connections among people and bringing joy to people’s lives.
