Nydia CliftonWhat is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?
I recently joined the Communications and Marketing team as a communications student intern. I am a junior at Carolina, studying journalism and media with a concentration in advertising and public relations and contemporary European studies. I help the team with various tasks and produce content representing the division.

What did you do before you came to the SCE?
Before working in this position, I worked with UNC’s New Student and Family Programs as a Weeks of Welcome Board member, where I planned and executed events for new and incoming students to have an opportunity to make friends while engaging in something fun, such as movies or games.

What are you looking forward to doing or learning in your new role?
I look forward to seeing my work published on various channels, such as the website or social media. I’m also looking forward to learning more about the multiple operations, the communication behind the scenes that makes them run smoothly, and how they communicate with campus.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to dance. I grew up dancing and competed for seven years, so dancing will always be a strong passion of mine. Also, I like to spend time with my friends, whether doing fun activities or baking with them to create something delicious.

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you or another fun item you’d like to share?
I competed in the high school version of the a cappella competition featured in the Pitch Perfect movie series.
