Some Finance and Operations departments will operate under reduced hours while students are on winter break, beginning as early as Dec. 16.
Many of our Campus Enterprises departments — including UNC Transportation and Parking, the One Card Office, Mail Services, Dining and UNC Student Stores — will operate under reduced hours as our students leave campus for break. Updated schedules are posted on the Campus Enterprises website.
Facilities Services will have limited staff resources on call. Housekeeping and Building Services staff will be available on an on-call basis to handle emergencies that should arise. Response times may be lengthened due to this status. The on-call service period will begin Monday night, Dec. 23, at 10 p.m., and end Thursday morning, Jan. 2.
During the winter break, UNC will again initiate the Winter Holiday Energy Saving Initiative (Dec. 23 – Jan. 1), when building temperature set points will be lowered in unoccupied buildings, which saves chilled water, steam, natural gas and electricity, thereby reducing utility costs. This program can be highly successful depending on the weather, saving the University thousands of dollars in energy bills. Campus research labs, animal facilities and designated health care facilities that are critical to the University’s mission are excluded from this program. Learn more about this Energy Savings Initiative.
Some vendor services and campus deliveries will be reduced during winter break, including delivery of dry ice and gas cylinders from Airgas and Arc3.
Deadlines related to December 2019 month-end processing of cash, checks, credit card and electronic payments submitted through the Cashier’s Office are also adjusted due to the holiday closings. All cash/check deposits submitted in ConnectCarolina in December 2019 must be received by 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, to be approved with an effective date of Dec. 31, 2019.
