Meredith Weiss
Dr. Meredith Weiss was named senior associate vice chancellor for Finance and Administration Nov. 1, 2014.

Weiss previously served as associate vice chancellor for business services and administration since 2012 and interim associate vice chancellor for energy, environment, health and campus safety since 2013.

In her role Weiss serves as the principle deputy to Vice Chancellor Matt Fajack and oversees the business and administrative operations of the Division of Finance and Administration. Weiss directs four departments in the division, including financial operations, continuous improvement and business intelligence, service delivery and budget, financial planning and analysis.

Weiss came to the Division of Finance and Administration from UNC School of Law, where she served for eight years — two years as assistant dean for information technology and six years as associate dean for administration, finance and information technology.

Weiss earned her bachelor’s degree in human resources from the University of Delaware. She earned master’s degrees in business administration and information science from North Carolina Central University; a master’s degree in instructional tech­nology and certificate in distance learning and administration from East Carolina University; and a Ph.D. in information science from UNC’s School of Information and Library Science. Weiss holds an adjunct appointment at UNC’s School of Information and Library Science and teaches online executive MBA and Ph.D. courses across the country. Her academic interests include evidence-based management, business intelligence, leadership, information technology, human resources and distance education.
