James Glenos, SCE technology support analyst

Meet James Glenos. James is known for diving right into an information technology problem to solve it as soon as possible so SCE employees can continue doing their important work. James is also known for another kind of diving that is every bit as rewarding, just a lot riskier.

What is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?
I am a Tech Support Analyst here at the SCE, primarily serving our “West” coverage area including 400 Roberson, the cogeneration plant, and the Cheek Clark building. My primary goal is to keep everyone up and running on their computers to the best of my ability.

What did you do before you came to the SCE?
I started on the UNC-Chapel Hill (ITS) Help Desk providing support to faculty, students and staff at 962-HELP. I also spent a couple years at a local IT consulting firm supporting small and medium-sized businesses before returning to UNC-Chapel Hill for my current position.

What is your favorite part of working at SCE?
There is always something to do!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I have a nine-month-old daughter and I love being a father to her. I also enjoy spending time with my wife, Nikki, and getting out and about in the Triangle on weekends.

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you, or another fun item you’d like to share?
I am originally from St. Augustine, Florida. At one point I got into skydiving and did a dozen or so jumps. Those days are long behind me now!
