What is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?

I am a Human Resource Specialist and work on recruiting, processing ConnectCarolina actions, payroll and our Time Information System (TIM).

What did you do before you came to the SCE?

I began working in the Facilities Services Human Resources office back in 1999. I started out as a Tar Heel Temp and then was hired permanently. For more than 17 years, I have enjoyed working with my coworkers and learning so much along the way. I always try to do my very best to help our customers and provide the best service I can. It has been an amazing, fun and a very rewarding experience!

Why are you excited about joining the SCE?

Change is always scary, but I have settled in and am enjoying working here at the SCE. The location is great with all of the shopping and restaurants within walking distance, and the free parking is definitively a plus. I also appreciate the efforts that were made to ensure everyone was as comfortable as possible. The electronic standing desks are wonderful!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

My husband and I have a homestead farm where we raise fresh produce in our gardens (yes, plural) as well as LaMancha dairy goats, hogs, rabbits, chickens and our most recent addition: turkeys! We also enjoy showing our goats during the summer and fall at several North Carolina shows and fairs.

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you?

Before we moved to our current homestead farm four-and-a-half years ago, I raised marine fish (clownfish, seahorses, etc.) for many years. I specialized in clownfish and even created the Trademark “Snowcasso” to describe the colorful clownfish that I raised. I shipped them all over the U.S., Hawaii, and Hong Kong. It was an wonderful adventure and I learned so much! The Trademark and breeding stock were sold after we moved to our homestead so I could focus my energy/learning on the farm instead.
