Jonathan Pruitt, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations

As we begin the spring semester at Carolina, I want to thank everyone for your hard work behind the scenes to keep the University running. Our Finance and Operations staff truly are the key to what makes Carolina go.

I also want to thank you for making my first year here in Finance and Operations at UNC-Chapel Hill so rewarding. Across our division, you welcomed me and shared your work, ideas, challenges and opportunities. Over the next few months, I am planning a series of visits and meetings throughout the Division to learn more about the important work that you and your teams do.

As we welcome Kevin Guskiewicz into his new role as interim Chancellor at Carolina, more than ever the work of our Division will be key to ensuring a smooth transition as the University builds on our successes and supports his work.

I am pleased to welcome the newest members of my senior leadership team: Nate Knuffman, who started last October as my strategic advisor and principal deputy for the Division of Finance and Operations; and Steve Agostini, who just started with us in January as associate vice chancellor for Finance and Budget. I am excited to share with you my vision for how we can all support the University’s strategic priorities moving forward. As a Division, our commitment is to be responsible stewards of our campus and state resources so that we may support the academic and research mission of the University and ensure Carolina remains affordable to any student who gains admission — that is the driving force for all that we do.

The results of your work are far reaching and important. We hope to shine a light on all your good work, along with upcoming initiatives and other important staff news in this newsletter, which will come out each quarter. I hope you find this information helpful, and I welcome your feedback.

With sincere thanks,

Jonathan Pruitt
Vice Chancellor
UNC Finance and Operations
