What is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?
I serve a lead role in financial reporting at SCE working specifically with Facilities Services.
What did you do before you came to the SCE?
I worked as a Spanish teacher for 13 years. Before that, I was an accountant in Georgia.
What is your favorite part of working at SCE?
I like working close to home, but I also like learning about the other SCE people who work in different parts of the building.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Most of all, I like hanging out with my six-year-old, but I also like to go fishing in the mountains and sometimes at the Eno River.
What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you?
When I studied to be a Spanish teacher, I focused on Mexican poetry of the twentieth century. A lot of the stuff I read related to environmentalism and nature. Jose Emilio Pacheco, Homero Aridjis and Isabel Fraire were my favorite poets, but there were many other good ones. Also, in place of hanging pictures in my house, I sometimes hang framed pictures of poems.
How does it feel to win the All Star Award?
It is a very nice individual honor, but I recognize that it would not have happened without very strong people working around me at all levels.
