What is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?
I am a website and digital services specialist on the Communications team. I help manage and maintain 15 websites across all Finance and Operations departments and work with other team members to present information on the web in an efficient, accessible and user-friendly manner.

What did you do before you came to the SCE?
I was the website merchandising and marketing manager at UNC Student Stores. I came to Student Stores after 12 years in sales and marketing for the music industry. I spent my first six years in Chapel Hill working in various restaurants, bars and coffee shops—a span that appears on my resume as ‘professional musician.’

What is your favorite part of working at SCE?
I enjoy learning how each unit within Finance and Operations impacts UNC-Chapel Hill every day. It is always exciting coming up with new and interesting ways to convey that message on our websites. Working with such an eclectic group of people across the SCE and all of F&O is very rewarding.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I am obsessed with music and enjoy going to live shows frequently. I will plan vacations and travel around seeing some of my favorite bands. I’m also an avid record collector and will rarely pass up the opportunity to browse at record stores wherever I go. I still play guitar and bass and occasionally get to play with other musicians at local venues.

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you, or another fun item you’d like to share?
In addition to my music obsession, I dabble in the dark arts of pickling, curing, and smoking. I especially like making pungent fermented items like kimchi and sauerkraut and hope to someday make a passable kombucha. I’ve transformed several hams into prosciutto in my basement and have nearly perfected my pastrami recipe.
