The Fire Safety Team at UNC’s Department of Environment, Health & Safety does more than just fire drills, fire alarm tests and fire extinguisher maintenance. Each year the team trains over a thousand students, faculty and staff how to safely use a fire extinguisher, including a popular event in the Pit during Week of Welcome activities.
In an interview with the Daily Tar Heel at this year’s event, fire safety professional Kitty Lynn said, “Our goal is to educate as many students as we can on how to keep safe from fire happening in their residence halls and in their life. We hope to train over 200 students today.”
Fire Safety is an important part of all campus events and EHS’ Fire Safety Team works every day to keep the UNC Campus safe.
