What is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?

I am the finance training manager for Continuous Improvement and Staff Development. I manage our training team and incoming training requests from campus users related to finance systems, such as ConnectCarolina or TIM. In addition, I work with our team to develop and deliver classroom trainings and job aids that cover a variety of other finance-related topics for the Service Center of Excellence employees.

What did you do before you came to the SCE?

I was a finance training specialist for Finance and Administration and worked in the Administrative Office Building (AOB). Prior to that, I was a training specialist for Facilities Services here at UNC. Before coming to UNC, I was an assistant director in the student learning center at UNC Charlotte.

What do you find beneficial about working at the SCE?

I tend to be excited by change and trying to find more innovative ways to do things. It is extremely helpful to work alongside the employees who are performing the tasks we teach in classes on a daily basis. This helps me ensure that the training we provide remains current and is truly preparing our employees for the real-life scenarios they will encounter on the job.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy traveling and spending time with my wife and son. We love taking part in many of the fun events that the Triangle area has to offer and finding places with great food or live music.

In addition, I am frequently playing sports and supporting my favorite teams. I am a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Braves. I have also been a life-long Wake Forest fan – but my allegiances are slowly switching over to the Tar Heels…

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you?

I have been playing the drums for most of my life. I played in church when I was younger and with my Dad’s beach music band at a couple of their shows — mainly to try to impress my wife, back when we were dating!
