Nick McBride

What is your role in the Service Center of Excellence?

I am a Human Resource Specialist and handle job postings, conduct interviews, process actions in ConnectCarolina and audit timecards.

What did you do before you came to the SCE?

Prior to joining the SCE, I was a human resource specialist for Facilities Services, starting in June 2016.

Why are you excited about joining the SCE?

I look forward to the increased challenge of working with new departments and learning different aspects of the job. Also, the enjoyment of meeting and working along side a new group of coworkers. Being able to walk to Rise Biscuits and Donuts and back in less than five minutes is a nice perk as well!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

During my free time, my wife and I are either riding bikes around Durham or taking hikes with our miniature schnauzer, Parker. I also enjoy watching sports of all kinds, but especially college basketball (Go Duke!). I am also pursuing my master’s degree in human resources at Western Carolina University.

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you?

My wife and I lived in Ethiopia with the Peace Corps, where we served as a community health educators. We spent our time educating people on HIV/AIDS, malaria and other general health issues.
